Assessing the talent:Had a chance to check out 2007 prospects Niles Paul and Phillip Bates tonight, and man oh man those guys are definetly worth the offers. Millard South gave North a little bit of a scare. North went into halftime leading 14-6 (North blocked the extra point). In the third quarter, North extended the lead to 20-6 (North missed the extra point). South came back with a touchdown in the third to narrow the score down 20-13 and trailing by a TD. After feeling the pressure, North scored it's final touchdown to take a 27-13 lead before South batteled back and score it's final touchdown of the game and losing 27-20

North improved to 6-1 on the season while South dropped to 5-2.

Niles Paul caught a 30 yard touchdown pass from Phillip Bates to score the first touchdown. Niles Paul also scored the second touchdown on a 10 yard pass from Bates. Phillip Bates was 8 for 12 i believe for about 109 yards and an interception to go with his 30 rushing yards. Niles Paul only had 2 catches on the night for 40 yards but those were both catches for touchdowns.

Niles Paul returned 3 kicks tonight on special teams as well. He has some killer speed on kickoff returns and could have ran back 2 of those for touchdowns had the punt and kickoff specialist from South not tackle him at the end of those returns.

Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 80% Even though he’ll be looking around, as should every young man, eventually, I think, the Huskers should have a decent shot at landing this in state product. He will be having a new Husker recruiter as Downing will be leaving the staff.

Niles will be in Green Bay this summer working out with his relative Ahman Green. He's gonna hopefully be a Husker.

That's good to know. Always good to pickup a few good pointers from an ex college and a current NFL player of what it takes to reach the next level

 
I saw Paul play basketball for North High School in the holiday tournament this year against Westside. He's not that big but he has some muscle to him. He looked athletic though and is a pretty good basketball player. Should be a good player for us in the future.

 
He's got a good frame, a big vertical and 4.4 speed. No doubt he's got the tools. I am excited that he wants to be in Lincoln and can't wait to see what he can do his Senior year at North. Just stay healthy!

I saw Paul play three times this year and he is an awesome receiver. Still needs work at DB but started to show improvement at the end of the year. I hope he is utilized on the offense by Nebraska.
