Changes for the remainder of the year?

Ok, assuming that no coaching changes are made this year - what can we do to try and finish this thing out strong? What suggestions do all of you arm chair coaches out there have?

Assuming everything stays the same, the only thing we can hope for is that the players can come together and start playing as a team with some emotion. If we can do that we may be able to win a few games despite the coaches shortcomings.

I agree, get simple, get motivated, and get physical and that is all about attitude. I think about the only thing BC can do is bring in some former players (if any of them will do it) and/or other motivation speakers to get these guys to play. Because God and the entire Husker Nation knows that this staff has absolutely zero ability to motivate these players. He also needs to simplify things so that they can quit thinking so damn much at there and get aggressive.

I agree just get nasty and play pitch and catch out there.

My old FB coach used to have a saying "keep it simple stupid!"

This could be our battle cry for the rest of the season.

The "pitch and catch" mentality is exactly what is causing the problem. Line up with two tight ends and a fullback. Let the line go out and knock people down. Let the fullback break a helmet or two. On defense, blitz, blitz, blitz. That is the only way we will be able to build a tough, aggressive streak in these players. The prissy dink and dunk passing game has stripped toughness from the game.

we wont be able to run against anyone if we do that. they will stick nine in the box, get the lead, and then tee off on keller

At least you might be able to cultivate a little attitude in the players, instead of what we have now. It worked for 40 years, didn't it? Football is football...remember, toughness in football is measured by two things: your ability to run the ball, and your ability to stop the run. We do neither.

My coach was the same way. We would talk about running fancy offense & defensive schemes amongst the players early on & coach would tell us that until we got the basics (i.e. fundamental tackling, blocking, knowing assignments), we weren't ready to do stuff like that. Simplify the offense, simplify the defense, TEACH THE FUNDAMENTALS! LIGHT A F*ING FIRE UNDER THESE GUYS!
