This guy ran a 4.5 at a camp earlier this year and was extremely disappointed. He said himself he is usually in the 4.3-4.4 range, and has stated by the end of the year he wants to consistently be in that area.

Speed kills, and judging by those stats, he has a good set of hands with his awesome speed.

If this kid can improve his grades, I really like this kid. He's fast and can produce after the catch. This kid could be a deadly weapon as a WR/Punter Return Specialist.

There was a thread on him earlier. He is pretty interested in Nebraska, and the reason we are interested in him is his game breaking speed. He is a very small guy, but is extremely quick and fast, and is able to make most defenders miss with ease. He is the kind of guy that could be involved in only 9 or 10 plays a year, but half of them are 50 yard touchdowns. Definition of the word explosive.

I thought there had to be an info post on him already but the search (for "Hayo Carpenter") only turned up one thread that barely mentioned him.

Thanks for finding this again, guys :thumbs

Just a couple of notes. First off, Scout.com has wrong information on him. His team finished last season 7-5, not 10-4 as they have indicated.

Here is the schedule results for them last year

09/03/2004 - St. Bonaventure L 26-28

09/17/2004 - Canyon L 34-51

09/24/2004 - Tulare Western W 42-32

10/01/2004 - Paraclete W 55-7

10/15/2004 - Serrano L 27-28

10/22/2004 - Victor Valley W 54-26

10/29/2004 - Barstow W 57-35

11/05/2004 - Granite Hills W 41-7

11/12/2004 - Silverado L 21-35

11/19/2004 - Hesperia W 48-11

11/26/2004 - Kaiser W 33-12

12/03/2004 - Palm Springs L 18-31

This kid just doesn't really impress me that much. His team plays in a conference that is equivlant to the Sun Belt Conference. His team was

3-5 against teams with winning records

4-0 against team with losing records

I just believe there are better prospects out there with better hands, and won't get abused by the taller DB's of the Big12. The average height of Big12 defensive backs has grown from 6-0 to 6-3 in the last couple of years.

:dis nameless usually i agree with most info that you bring to the board - but I do not agree on your post above. I checked most of the big 12 depth charts and could only find 1 corner that was listed at 6'3" - not saying there isnt more than that but to say that the average hgt is 6'3" I believe is inaccurate. 2nd comparing the HS team that he plays on to the sun belt is totally absurd - the players in the sun belt were recruited to play there and Hayo must play where his parents live (he has no choice) I will agree that (imo) that there might be better choices out there for WR, but is he being recruited for that position? rivals has him listed at CB and brr has him listed at WR - in either case I will leave judgement of the selection of him up to the coaches.

:cheers

Thanks for catching that bob about defensive backs. I meant the average height of Wide recievers (not DB's) in the Big12 has grown to 6-3. As far as corners in the Big12 6-3 or taller, OU alone has 2 guys listed that i know of and Texas A&M has another 2 that i can recall. But none the less, my original point was about WR's not DB'S. I am almost positive that's NU isn't recruiting him as a DB. If he is being recruited by NU as a DB, he is going to get abused by the Big 12 WR's/Te's

It appears that he still has Nebraska on his radar. His senior stats were impressive with 111 receptions, 1780 yards and 24 tds. Add to that rushing for 145 yards on 18 carries with 5 tds. Factor in 13 punt returns for a 23.77 average , 17 kickoff returns for a 36.65 average, and 7 interceptions on defense. Between the three he added another 5 touchdowns to his totals. Does the Nebraska future hold several McElroy to Carpenter TD combinations? I hope so!!!
