Assessing the talent: What an absolute joy to watch. Rivals had 7 reels on him and very rarely do they show a lot of defense, but there were six. You want to talk about a kid who’s a ball hawk. A kid that wants to lay the boom and make every tackle, this is your guy. Just about every play was a highlight. He looks like he played at about 180 pounds last year and he may very well have, but it didn’t matter. He can chase, play the pass, blitz, play very strong run support, and hit. The one drawback right now is his weight, but with his frame I see another 15 maybe 20 pounds and a move to SS or other similar positions. His senior season he may never leave the field. He finished the season with 163 total tackles on defense including a dozen for a loss. He added four sacks, five interceptions, two caused fumbles, and one defensive touchdown. Throw in another 600 yards receiving on 30 grabs.
Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 0% I think he’s really got his heart set on Florida, but well see if Phil Elmassian can work his magic again in the Sunshine State.
