Assessing the talent: He has a strong, positive mean streak to him. He loves the film room and pays quite a bit attention to the finer details. He plays in the tough Chicago inner city leagues. He was named an all-conference player in 2004. Probably the best returning offensive lineman in the state. Even with his height he does a great job of getting under the chin straps of the opposing lineman.

Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 0% Cosgrove is recruiting Johnson out of one of his hotbeds. Huskers have some work to do, but there’s a chance, small, but an opening.

dedhoarse Hello, getting ramone johnson (# 15 rivals og) to visit would be a big coup - but (like what was stated above tn & il are high w/ him right now, & tn gets his 1st offer in dec - but the good news & bad news:

the good news is that he is waiting until after the season to take his visits - so UN is not out of it, so any thing might be possible - he may visit in dec or jan.

the bad news is that with taking his visits in dec & jan, he will not get a chance to compare (or experience) the UN game day atmosphere - which he could have compared the greatness of a sea of red to the silly singing of ol' rocky top, or to the lack of attentance of an il game.

Lately, UN has not be focusing on too many og - outside of walton 6'3" 275 (#3 rivals og), it has all been ot...ot...ot...&...occasionally s & wr, but johnson would be great to get.

 
This is a guy that was high on NU in the early recruting stages back in April. Nebraska is still in the mix for him, but they are playing catchup to Illinois and Tennessee. He was at the USC/ND game unofficially. His team is off to a 8-1 start and made the playoffs. They have a game Friday night at 7pm in the first round against East Suburban Catholic (5-4). His team has outscored the last 4 opponents 160-22

 
Being from Chicago, I have had a chance to follow prep football in the area, and even watched one of his games on tv. This guy is the real deal. Dont let his forty time fool you. He is quick in the way you want an o lineman to be and his team relies on him heavily. 90% of the plays they run are to his side, and the others are misdirection plays. He will start somewhere in D-1 football. Pray that it is at Nebraska.

Any chance at this guy still? I noticed on rivals that he still had Nebraska up there with the other 3.

 
Considering the fact he hasn't visited, I would say no.

Unless he is taking a surprise visit this weekend, then are chances are slim and none with slim almost out the window.

 
Illini bound in my humble opinion. Usuaully the last visit has a big impact on recruit, specially when that visit goes well. That plus the fact Ron Zook is an aggresive recruiter and it's also the instate school and the fact Illinois hasn't signed a quality OL recruit in this class and the ones they have are average at best.
