Assessing the talent: As an offensive lineman, he has a nice burst out of his stance and a great initial hit on the defender, but sometimes fails to stick with the block and drive the defender. He’s a great competitor and doesn’t give up on any plays. Blocks till the whistle type player.

Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 10% Randy Jordan is controlling his recruitment. The key here is a visit. West Virginia, oddly, has an inside track.

If he visits (and i believe NU is in good shape to get one), Nebraska has a good chance. If he doesn't visit, it will come down to FSU, Florida and West Virginia (Florida has yet to offer)

Will be visiting this weekend. Randy Jordan is recruiting him. He is high on Florida St, but they have yet to offer. Nebraska, South Carolina, and West Virginia have all offered. Odds are, if hed gets a FSU or Florida offer, he stays instate.

FSU is close to offering

hello, the things that are in UN's favor for barrett (og) - are that he:

(1) will be giving UN his 1st visit

(2) will see fr starting & playing on the o-line: slauson (fr), murtha (rs fr), & mann (rs fr)

(3) could be promised by the UN coaching staff that he could see significant playing time as a true fr or rs fr

(4) should witness w/ his own eyes the immediate & absolute need for o-linemen

(5) could be blown away by the game day atmosphere of UN, its fans, & tradition - similar to davis who before for his visit to UN was favoring area schools - va & va tech (plus, he saw a great game, UN vs isu, in which the fans were loud & terrific

hello, husker in soonerland I meant to write huff (w/ a thousand pardons- please forgive me)

& if it were not for a shoulder surgery to christianson than UN would most certainly be starting 3 fr - murtha, slauson, & christianson, & playing H-U-F-F (rs fr) - (please forgive me again, since I am inane & desire a :WTH response ever so often).

also, going back to the subject at hand - which was of barrett - if barrett is looking at playing time at fsu, well they are loaded w/ o-linemen & are recruiting well this yr in that department - w/ hardrick ****, bellamy ***, & great chances w/ barrie (who UN was high on), smith & geathers *****, & rose & ricks ****, & davis (who now holds fsu offer)

barrett has an offer from fl, & he did camp there over the summer - but fl seems to have waned a little on him probably because of their success of other ol verbals - johnson ***** & hurt ****, & others who have them on their short list - & young, carufel, smith, & logan-el (all *****).

so, if the kid wants to play right away - there is no place like NEBRASKA

It's perfectly alright. No one is perfect. I have wanted to use that :WTH icon for a long time much like you like to use the dedhoarse a lot.

Now that the cat is out of the bag. Let me go ahead and get everyone up to speed. I mentioned earlier in the week we would be getting a recruit this weekend. Then i noted that the recruit was going to hold off on making an announcement for a few days and noted that out of our 6 possible scholarships left available Cruz Barrett was one of the 3 OL i expected NU to sign.

The thing i noted was Barrett was the backup to the original guy NU wanted. Apperently NU had decided to go another route and send a message to the original recruit it doesn't plan on waiting for him since we need Offensive lineman very bad for this class. His choice to delay any verbal commit has backfired on him.

Now that's he is no longer under consideration, it's time to reveal who it was. The recruit was 3 star Keith Williams from Missouri. I believe the reason he decided to wait was the fact we are getting down to the final available scholarships. Keith is good friends with both NU DE recruiting targets Adrian Clayborn and Jerry Brown and IF NU should happen to not get either of the 2 (and it's not looking good right now), Keith apperently did not want to be the odd man out. Keith could possibly follow Adrian to Iowa.

Of course, anything can happen so don't rule anyone or anything out. There's also a unconfirmed report that someone from this class is not going to make it. I wont name names because people tend to freak out to easily, and i know they would, specially with this particular commit.

There's also a strong possibility one of the 3 star guys currently verballed will be a greyshirt come letter of intent day.

That's all the info i am going to give out for now untill i see how the J.B Walton issue plays out. His verbal/or not could impact which 2 targets we get as his backups. The backups are aware that we are going after him first, them second. They both are under the impression they are the backup for him, so OL shouldn't be an issue.

I have said to much. I will give out more when the need calls for it

He's got a lot of potential. Look for him to be thrown into the weight room and loose some of the chunk. Hopefully he works out.

hello, I do not see why UN would want keith williams over cruz barrett in the 1st place, because barrett has more proven feet quickness & agility both on the o line in hs fb & frontline at hs bb, his wing span makes him even bigger than his height indicates (6'4" w/ a 101 in wingspan), & he is more versatile as a olineman than williams, since he could play either tackle or guard in college, & lemmings says that barrett's leadership, aggression & overall upside as a olineman make him variable for a future all-amer & nfl player, where as lemmings sees nothing as special reciting within williams outside of playing coll fb as an olineman

but, it is all projection...I just think that UN got the verbal of the better of the 2 olineman (but then again he has yet to take his act or sat)
