Bid Red Report: NR/ :star :star

Assessing the talent: Multi-talented star in the football rich Las Vegas area. He has really come on this season, while not showing a lot last year. He has over 1,500 yards all purpose on the year so far. He’s a nice athlete that will be playing WR, Slot, or maybe a DB, not QB. He’s raw with lots of potential if he applies himself.

Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 5% Nebraska is the most attractive school, on paper, that has offered Carter. Wagner is recruiting, along with several other Las Vegas stars.

dedhoarse Hello, with quinton carter visiting there will be a great chance for UN to garner a safety, which has been a key position for recruiting, & UN has yet to get a verbel out of the 3 previous visitors at the s pos. (mouton, davis & thenarse) - yet there is hope with steve harris visiting today (whose high school - hebron, at lewisville, tx - is the former hs of UN target ian-yates cunningham & very close to my nephew's hs at argyle, tx - hopefully he can give me stats of harris - my nephew: 15 yr old/6'4"/coming to UN in 2008).

also, I am amazed at UN's ability to go into a state - nv - where they have not recruited well in prior years, & get visits out of the state's top talents:

nv top 10 (rivals):

#3 jashaad gaines db 6' 202 4.67 - visited 09/02 verbelled to nd

#4 mike smith de 6'6" 245 4.85 - visited today

#7 quinton carter ath 6'2" 175 4.45 (great s speed) - will visit 11/12

#10 troy cummings - offer - UN has mild interest (had UN high early - likes ore st now)

& ronnie paulo lb 6'2" 223 4.65 - will visit 1/6

Hootin annie, what's with using the dedhoarse thing in every single one of your posts? You seriously don't need to do it every single time.

As far as Ricky Thenarse is involved, he will end up a husker when it's all said and done. The coaches already know he plans on taking his 3 of his 5 alloted visits before he makes a verbal. The coaches are more worried about getitng Offensive lineman then DB's at the moment. DB's are third on the recruiting list after offensive lineman and tight ends.

Hey, how do you like my avator - sweet right? - & I know that this has nothing to do w/ q carter (well it sort of does) - but I am responsing to nh's statement of te help being more important than s:

(1) UN will have another yr w/ herian when he returns from his injure, so te will be covered for a yr

(2) tomerlin will be giving te a whirl in the spring

(3) phillips, mueller, sievers, who all played & have experience going into next yr. & harvey (rs) may get snaps next yr

(4) plus, there are not any stud te's available:

reuland - fav's nd, ucla & usc

gresham - fav's ou, ok st, lsu, & miami

reese - high on ok st

washington - top jc te (only great jc te prospect this yr) - verballed to usc

mccoy - high on usc

pupello - high on fsu

fox - verballed to fsu

epps - high on miami

quarless - high on va & miami

mcmichael - verballed to bc

mullen - verballed to nd

torchia - high on va

yeatman - is the only available te prospect who has visited, but will probably play ot in college (& who knows probably lacrosse, too) plus, he may be leaning to nd

(5) s position has 3 sr & 1 jr on the depth chart - plus brothers may leave after this yr - so 4 s positions may have to be filled, & I hope that those slots will be filled by stud s prospects

(6) if there is a spot of concern it is here - shanle will probably start, green could shift over & play s - w/ jones verballing, & grixby & bowman at the cb spots, l. jackson may play but he has zero game time experience at s - so, one of the 2006 fr s may play a lot, or may even start - this spot is a big ?

hello, q carter has had his visit moved back to 12/10 (no game day atmosphere - but hopefully he will see bowl game preparations)

i am so surprised that UN is trying to vie for visits from safeties like: carter, verdell (juco butler cc), & palmer (compton cc) - since hs safety stars like davis, thenarse & mouton have UN as one of their top schools - will not bringing in the former make the latter feel a little uneasy about UN's interest in them, or vice versa - oh well, the more the merry (i just hope that UN finds a group of safeties who can tackle a lot better than bullocks & tiedtke).

He's cancelled his visit and eliminated the Huskers

hello, having carter eliminating UN is not a big loss unless (here is a big shocker) palmer &/or davis eliminate us, since they are UN's hot stove prospects at safety, & young is not that far behind in UN's want/need list from them

palmer is a good friend w/ ola & johnson, & is visiting - so there is UN's N

davis has yet to visit anywhere else - his other schools of interest are (1) schools he has seen before from just being in the area, & (2) schools that are more interested in basketball (outside of vatech)

young has waited too long for ia, & ia is waiting to see the interest of other prospects at s before giving him a schollie

therefore UN has a good chance at all 3, & carter was basically protection if UN missed on the other 3 - but then again, there goes UN's protection

p.s. jonathan warren, s from butler cc, could be UN's new protection at s

Young can wait for the Iowa all he wants, the coaches aren't going to keep a scholarship open for him. Iowa will likely offer him in the next few days. I think he's waiting for the Iowa offer so he can join fellow teammate Jeff Tarpinan in my opinion.
