The "Outrageously Idiotic Past the Point of Comprehension" Statements Thread

If I had known my one little post about Dirk teaching journalism was going to set off a little sh#t storm like this...

I would have posted it in every goddamn thread!

Are you disputing that Dirk wrote that article? Because that may be the ultimate goalpost move.

Or are you tacitly agreeing that it was? Because later you say "I just find it odd that it was THAT article..."

Which straw are you grasping at here, the "the article doesn't exist" straw or the "that article was like something a person who hasn't been educated on the ethics of journalism would write" straw?
What?
I was being coy with you and your facts.

The article he wrote was an opinion piece after the Wisconsin game. His opinion, if I remember (which is why I'd like to read the article again) was that Taylor should be benched and Bo needs to be careful because his job is linked to Taylor's play. Now, that's probably stirring the pot, but every opinion/editorial piece in the history of writing stirs the pot. If you get mad at Dirk for doing that, there's a long freaking line of writers who you need to get angry with too. (Hemingway had a "Fire Bo" piece that really felt like you were there, man)

And this assumption or platform of yours lately that fans don't have to be subject to reason is a little much. I'm fanatical about this team too, but I like to support the team and be able to see the forest for the trees too.

yeah, if we were not fanatics, we would not be so dissatisfied with the recent results.

why can fanaticism only work one way?

like, i was disappointed in "the dark knight rises" because of how much i love the batman.

I heard someone say how overrated The Dark Knight was. I immediately thought of the South Park where Stan is diagnosed with being an a-hole.

The problem comes when you piss in everyone else's cheerios. You may consider yourself a fanatic, but your fanaticism doesn't trump someone else's. When people are pumping sunshine and feeling happy & giddy about the team, it is not incumbent upon anyone, nor is it an infringement of your enjoyment of the team, that you refrain from dumping your version of "reality" on the situation.

If people want to pump sunshine, let them. There's no merit or greater honor, you are not a greater fan, you are not doing anyone any favors, by constantly reining them back in, pumping the brakes, reminding them of problems.
