Don't.... don't say that. Because inevitably some idiot Badger fan somewhere on some message board sometime in the past eight years has said that (as has a Husker fan, and a fan of every other team out there) and someone's going to have that magic google that finds that very post, they'll link it here, and the internet will be won.

Instead, say something like, "IF a Badger fan said that, they're not representative of the majority of us. There are idiots in every crowd."

That's a near-unimpeachable statement, and far less likely to send people scurrying to the google.

Also, welcome to HuskerBoard. Where we're mostly not asshats.

Eve more than that, they are an a-hole with a problem...or an a-hole being a problem.

Getting drunk is like sh!tting your pants. When we first start out with either drinking or potty training, we make a few mistakes, a few errors in judgement, and accidents happen. Hopefully, we learn how not to get drunk or not sh!t our pants by learning from the bad experiences and using better judgement. However, some never do.

So a person who gets intoxicated and then puts his drunken behavior on public display is no different from a guy who sh!ts his pants and marches out into the world to show everybody what he has accomplished. The University of Wisconsin in Madison has always had more than their share of this type in their student body, at least when I grew up in that area. Wisconsin posters in this thread are backing this up, saying that that is how they still are and they see nothing out of the ordinary with such (lack of) discretion and behavior.

So what does this mean to a Nebraska fan? We can either take Camp Randall or leave it, but we won't change the Wisconsin fans and student section by complaining here. Me, I will never voluntarily venture East of the Mississippi again, unless it is first cleared of its current inhabitants.

Wisconsinites love beer, and nothing will stop them from enjoying a crisp, mouthwatering brewskie on game day. Right now the fact beer isn’t allowed in the stadium incentivizes fans to either sneak flasks into the stadium or drink ridiculous amounts pre-gaming. The result is obnoxious, overly-intoxicated fans who leave just after “Jump Around” – if they can even hold off their hunger, tiredness or vomit for that long...If fans know they will still have access to beer during the game, they won’t have to worry about drinking so much to create a buzz to last the whole game.

I know this is very much not how they do it in Nebraska, where there is almost a cult of kindness around the football team and that is fine. You get a lot of respect around the nation for being the classiest fan base in CFB and it is clearly important to a lot of you. We pride ourselves on something different and find your obsession with politeness a bit odd and off putting. That culture shock combined with the absolutely embarrassing loss to a program that is basically you from 20 years ago, twisted the experience into something much darker than it really was.

Suddenly some good natured, if drunk, chants become much more sinister in their intent. People pushing through a crowded stadium, again mostly drunk, and spilling things on people rows in front is no longer a simple accident but a targeted assault. We see it all the time. People that come to the Camp expecting their team to lose and/or people whose priority is to have a great experience leave feeling that they just had the time of their life and that Camp Randall is a truly unique and special place. When we play teams like OSU, PSU, or Nebraska who go into every game expecting their team to win going away suddenly the Camp is Sodom and Gomorrah where no kid is safe and grandmas are beat up in the bathroom. Also Iowa. F*** Iowa. You guys have a nice shiny new thing going on with them that will probably turn into a rivalry. We have been slugging it out every year now since the Wright brothers were in swaddling clothes. They are about as biased and jealous a source on all things UW as you can find. Minny fans are resigned to their fate as our inferior, Iowa still thinks they are the better program and our sustained success gets under their skin like no other.

Once again the point is that we watch our team differently than you do. You can stand on your high horse and talk down to us about our behavior all you want. We don't care, its not going to change just because you guys are in the B1G now. We are going to keep doing what we do they way we want to do it. If you don't like that, don't come to Madison expecting something else, you will be disappointed.

We swear at old people and call them a-hole. (it's ok, that's just how it is)

We act like asshats because we don't know how to behave in public. (it must be someone else's fault for taking exception to the behavior)

We're going to keep on acting like dickheads because, well, that is what we are and we feel like it. mmmmkay.

I don't believe I will be going Madison ever. I can get my fill of the "feel" of Camp Randall by watching reruns of jacka$$ and I choose to not reward the behavior with my money. I know you won't miss me and I sure won't miss Wisconsin fans. Already have passed up CU fans and that is saying something.

 
I had a mostly good time at CR. Had a couple pre game drinks. College student sitting in the student section with some friends. The 'a-hole' chant was funny to me. The Sconie fans around us seemed rowdy at first, but I guess our Nebraska kindness melted their wicked hearts as they started offering us nachos and invited us to a party. Had fun 'jumping around' and yelling 'EAT sh#t'. Then there's the other parts. One of my friends was constantly getting kneed in the back. A couple rows in front of us a guy yelled at a girl 'get raped.' I saw a couple empty cups get thrown in the general vicinity of some other Husker fans.

 
The only Wisconsin fan I know is one of my best friends. He spent most of his childhood there. He's a nice guy. We're looking forward to the game.

First of all, this is one of the student papers, talking about students. Nowhere did I say students and alumni and ither fans don't drink more than their fair share, just that the guy saying Badger fans after a loss say "oh well we just wanted to drink anyway" was wrong.

Shoulder checking a 14 year old while talking trash to his mom about his dad is normal? Sounds like a GREAT place to go watch a game. Shoulder check one of my 5 year olds and I'll fist check your throat, but it's all in good fun. Gimme a break.........
