Banker = Cosgrove

So do we update this list now? 3 out of our 4 games this year would be on it...

BYU - 7.10 YPP

Miami - 6.81 YPP

S. Miss - 7.05 YPP

Good lord...already 3 games on that list?

The thing with Banker is...he never really coached in a conference that was pass happy, so defending the pass was never a huge issue.

This is a "worst 26" list. 2 of this years games would make it.
It looks like 3 make it...unless I am reading it wrong.
If you put BYU at 7.10 on the list, it knocks 1998 KSU off the list.

Put Miami at 7.05 on the list and it knocks 2003 KSU off the list

6.81 for Southern Miss doesn't make the list as it is less than the 6.93 from KSU that is no longer on the list.

Ha...I teach Calculator use and honors adding...

When a bunch of walkons are out preforming the guys on scholarship, that is a problem.
Why?
I'm all for playing the best player regardless of their background or status. But, if you think about this logically, scholarships are finite in number and coaches have to strive to give them to 1) the best player possible and 2) someone they hope is going to be worth the scholarship. The walk-on stories truly are great but those scholarship guys are where you have to make your bed and lie in it. If they're under-performing consistently (and I'm not saying that's the problem at NU... just saying if they are under-performing at a high rate) that's a problem.

That doesn't mean don't play the walk-on if he's better. Not saying that all. But, that what I mentioned could be what RADAR was getting at.

What's your argument here? 8 games ago, these defenders had the second worst defensive performance in school history. 4 games later, those same players (minus a 2nd round draft pick and adding some true freshman) had only the 18th worst defensive performance in school history.

If anything, that shows that they're getting better.

Are they where we want them to be? Hell no. But arguing anything else against Banker (at this early point in the season) just seems to ignore the trajectory of the facts.

I completely disagree, it's not a value assessment at all, it's just a pure evaluation of crappy performances. These same players were the second worst team of all time 8 games ago. Now they are only the 18th worst team. There's no way you can't say that's improvement.

Is it where we want them to be? Hell no.

Is it reasonable to expect more from these same players only 4 games after one of the worst performances in school history? I don't think it is.

Look a the teams on the list? I'm pretty sure BYU, S. Miss, and Miami would get skull drug by most of those teams (except SDSU, Wyoming, and Ball State).

Yeah, that's not how it works. You also have to take into account the quality of the competition.
