Better than being a hypocrite, which is what I'd be if I suddenly thought MSU was better just because my team won. Sparty's been due for some time, and I've been saying so for some time.

One should not make their accomplishments relative to the other team, yet fans will do this all of the time, every year, at all levels. Maybe their team beats a highly ranked opponent early, then that opponent loses. Suddenly you hear that fanbase decry they're worse. Nothing changed, you still made all of the plays you did before.

MSU plummets to 14th. Do you feel different now? Our DB's start coming up and recognizing flat routes and hammering guys. Did that suddenly not happen because people think MSU 14th and not 6th? Is Westerkamp's courage any less today than yesterday? Did Cross suddenly not drag guys down the field?

MSU no longer being in the AP TOP TEN changed none of those things. Take pride in those things, don't define their worth by what you think the other team is or is not. That's the big point I'm trying to make here.
