Hank Hughes no longer with team

I hope Coach Hughes finds a soft landing spot.

But I'd be lying if I said I were less than thrilled at this development. Wow! What an opportunity to upgrade.

 
Good stuff. Hughes was a major issue on the recruiting trail.

He's probably a better fit at the G5 level where recruiting top rated DL isn't as important.

I wonder if what appeared to be lack of ability to recruit had something to do with this... or maybe he's retiring.

 
Best news I've heard today. Not just because I was never a fan of Hughes - because it shows Riley is willing to cut someone loose who isn't doing their job well

 
Grad Assistant Tavita Thompson.

Works with TEs currently. No idea if he knows anything about coaching DL but he seems to be a great recruiter.

It's not a huge jump to go from offense to defense. The guy was an o-linemen in college, so he knows the trenches and probably what challenged him from opposing d-linemen.

Thompson got a lot of credit for his work with Cethan Carter last year, so he must be a good coach. I have heard that he is a good recruiter, as well.
