Spring Position Battles - Running Backs

Spring snapshot: Adam Taylor draws praise for positive approach

"He's one of those guys that, as the (2015) season went on — even though he wasn't playing at running back — he found other niches," said Riley, referring to Taylor's work on special teams. "And I like guys like that — those guys who redirect their energy when it's not working out exactly as they want.

Some of us thought Taylor would be the next great Husker running back. Never happened. I sure would like to see him get some carries, and see what he can do.
Adam Taylor will leave. YSU destination. Or TCU ala Aaron Green.
No he won't. (And what would possibly make you say that?)
Gut feeling. Green-Ameer/Rex .... Taylor-Ozigbo/Newby/Wilbon. Also Braylon Heard. Purely logjam.

Is anyone else scared that Newby is looking like the top dog at running back again? I just dont like him with the ball in his hands at all, doenst run with any determination and as soon as someone touches him, he is down.

So far he has been splitting time with Ozigbo and Wilbon equally, from the sounds of it.

I just hope that Ozigbo comes out on top. He has the build to take the beating of being a big ten starting running back. Has OK speed, very agile for how large he is and is a good all around back (blocker/pass catcher).

Some notes from Sam

» The running game appears to have more oomph. At least in the practices we’ve attended, NU has spent less time perfecting the jet sweep — don’t worry, it’s not going anywhere — and more time on bread-and-butter zone and draw plays. It’s highlighted the strengths of Devine Ozigbo and Mikale Wilbon the most.

» Wilbon is among several highly touted recruits starting to make their move in Year 3 of the program.

Riley said he would like to see what Taylor can do at RB since he is finally healthy. So, has Taylor been getting been getting many meaningful carries this spring?
