RIP Satellite camps - Back from the Dead (4/28/16)

lol for as much as the SEC loves to suck one another off, about how great they are as a whole, they sure are scared of a little equalized playing field when it comes to recruiting. Guess it's easy to puff the chest out when you're able to stockpile all the talent. Love how the NCAA turns the blind-eye to Ole Miss' recruiting practices, but a satellite camp that can allow under-the-radar kids to be noticed gets the ax.

That is a$$-backwards, which is ironic because half of the states in SEC territory could be classified as the same.

I don;t really know all that much about how the process enfolded, but it would seem that for transparency and objectivity, the Universities should have voted on this.

Satellite camps are – or, rather, were – an effective mechanism for college coaches to take their programs on the road and sell them to recruits in a given region. For teams from barren recruiting areas, they were a helpful tool. But for teams in talent-laden states, they were a threat. That's why this is such a big win for the SEC, which now won't have to watch coaches like Michigan's Jim Harbaugh venture onto "their" turf and draw easy attention from elite local talent.

This is clearly a move to satisfy athletic administrators and coaches worried about losing out on top players.

Why not push for both? It's not like ONLY earlier Officials will be enough. Nebraska needs every recruiting edge it can get.

Yup. It's funny how the shift in CFB power has coincided with the changes in the rules in scholarships and recruiting.

Here is what is going to happen.

FBS schools will find a corporate sponsor to fund a camp at a D3 school. The coaches for the FBS schools will be in attendance as scouts.

Suck it, NCAA!
