I was going to step out of this thread. But two of you really need to go back and look at the facts.

TO told LP that if he did A, B and C, he'd have a chance to be reinstated/play. Most of that involved staying out of additional trouble, attending counseling and staying up in school.

When LP achieved those goals, should TO have welched because it would have been the politically expedient thing to do?

No.

The way you can view certain things with such delusions of granduer yet view other things with such negative pessemism is frankly befuddling.

And that's a fine opinion to have.

He was using knapp's example of integrity in a different context to make himself look better. That wasn't knapp's intention I'm sure. His point was all coaches can be looked at in an unbiased way and cm did what cm does.

But, he didn't.

Again, it's back to that "benefit of the doubt" thing.

Joe Paterno didn't show up at parties in fur coats, or fast-rope into stadiums, either. "Benefit of the doubt" has to be checked with sober judgment.

Seems like a lot of this thread is devoted to CM Husker.

IMO, It does seem like a lot of CM's posts have been borderline trollish over the past couple of months. That has not gone unnoticed. But recently there are so many other people pissed at him, that even when he just expresses an opinion he gets all kinds of grief. Who's fault is that? Probably his, mostly. Mostly, but not entirely. And it kind of seems like that's what he wants[SIZE=12pt]—[/SIZE]to be at the center of every controversy.

On a general note, the best way to get along at HB is to be civil towards each other. (On HB, and every place else too.) There's no reason for a scorched earth response every time someone expresses an opinion that differs from your own. You can disagree in a civil manner. There are some posters out there who should try it sometime. And if someone seeks attention by making trollish responses to every post you make, just don't give them the satisfaction of responding to them. Their trollish posts will die on the vine.

As for what action should be taken for all this off-season quibbling and angst, it's a tough call as to where the censorship line should be drawn. We've probably fallen on the side of being too permissive. But that's better than maintaining a draconian, police state message board[SIZE=12pt]—[/SIZE]isn't it?

I'm doing my own personal part towards a happier Husker Board. I've put one poster on ignore already and would place the notorious cm husker as well but then most threads would be half empty so I will simply refrain as much as possible from engaging him.

I have become quite guilty of being a hostile poster towards the negative view crew and it has made me rather unhappy to come here. That isn't good since it makes me want to spend less and less time here. I've taken a bit of a step back from the board to clear my head a bit and let discussions heal themselves without me getting too involved in throwing out counter points that nobody needs to sift through.

This thread itself was probably unnecessary but so were a lot of the posts that were quoted in here.
