Jacobson is the fourth player to leave the Huskers since the season ended, and all the departures are forwards. Besides Jacobson and Morrow, redshirt junior Nick Fuller and freshman Jeriah Horne announced earlier this spring they were leaving the program.
Nebraska now has four open scholarships for the 2017-18 season. Small forward Nana Akenten from Bolingbrook, Illinois, is the Huskers’ only current incoming recruit. The spring signing period begins April 12 and runs through May 17.
With the defections and the graduation of Tai Webster, Nebraska has lost its top three rebounders and three of its top five scorers from the 2016-17 season.
Jacobson played in all of the Huskers’ 65 games the past two seasons, moving into the starting lineup nine games into his freshman year and never leaving.
He made 56 consecutive starts for Nebraska, averaging 4.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game as a freshman and 6.0 points and 6.2 rebounds as a sophomore. He averaged 24 minutes per game this season, fourth on the team behind Webster, Glynn Watson and Evan Taylor.
He was the second Husker freshman in 15 years to start every conference game and ranked among the top freshmen in school history in both blocked shots (fourth) and rebounds (fifth).
