The Village of the "Banned"

I honestly thought HuskerNation1 would get a ban for that sort of stuff before Ric Flair, as HN1 defends and supports Trump’s racism unabashedly. But maybe he doesn’t directly spew it himself, I suppose.
It's certainly a difficult line to walk. It's conceivable to consider someone racist for supporting another's racist comments, but is it volatile enough to warrant reprimand on the board? That's where the context comes into play.

However, if you asked Ric, I think he'd say his post wasn't racist. Just like he believed it was appropriate to say transgenders were mentally ill.

He certainly would not admit that his post was racist. No one ever admits that they are racist. You are indeed correct that context is important.

So, at the risk of appearing to be on the wrong side of this issue or of appearing to stick up for a poster I do not support.....Is it now against board rules to hold racist beliefs or support the comments of another member who is suspected of holding racist beliefs? I totally understand and support not allowing obvious and blatant racist posts but your explanation seems to be delving into what a person may believe. Is HB now moderating thought? Or did I somehow misunderstand the explanation?

BTW, these questions were not spurred solely by this quoted post. There was a post by Ric that now resides in the offending posts thread and for the life of me I cannot figure out why it’s there.......unless somebody decided he was a racist and wasn’t going to allow him to post anything even remotely related to the issue.......if fake ancestry can be considered related.

I think I outlined it to the best of my ability in the post you quoted, @JJ Husker. It all depends on context. We're not going to police someone's beliefs, however, the nature in which you share your opinion does matter. We've suspended/banned people for posting racist content on the board. We've suspended/banned people for saying racist things.

Specific to your question, it is not explicitly against board rules to "hold racist beliefs." However, you could be reprimanded for sharing them, depending on how and when.

As for the other post from Ric you keep mentioning, I believe it was moved primarily because it was related to the other, more egregious post that got him in trouble.

Also, I'm not sure why it's not showing up under their avatars, but they're definitely banned.

Sorry to be questioning over this one. I don't disagree with the result and frankly am surprised it took this long. I still don't understand that one post being moved to offending posts but to be fair I had not read through the entire chain leading up to it. It just appeared completely harmless all on it's own.

Now the Scotty ban surprises me. Guess I haven't noticed some of his more colorful posts. He sure was passionate tho....I'll kind of miss him. Who's going to serve up the Kool Aid on random Tuesday mornings now?

No worries - I think it's fair to question or seek clarification on suspensions/bans. If anything, it gives board members a clearer idea of what they can and can't post.

RIP Ric Flair (2013-2018)

Sad we won't get his takes on how only Trump can save us from certain socialist, pu&&y hat doom in 2020.

Oh ****, where are our hypotheticals going to come from now?

Scotty was never previously banned, just changed from MattyIce to Scotty.  I get that he had a bunch of warnings, but that was the final straw?  Feels thin.

At practice...when I have two morons that are doing moron things I don't just pick one and punish them.  Both of the morons get punished.

what did ric get banned for?

good riddance. dude was a cancerous piece of s#!t and a damn liar. i offer up very earnest thoughts & prayers to the students he teaches every night before bed

And we believe that your thoughts and prayers are very earnest because you used the   emoji.

Yeah, it does feel extremely thin. I’m pretty sure Matty/Scotty had received a fairly lengthy vacay prior for something but saying some other B1G program/team sucks donkey d1cks, and having that be the final straw? Seems pretty weak. I wonder if new user Moos is Loos will get chastised for saying Iowa sucks in a status update. Really, what’s the diff?
