Maurice Washington Faces Charges

I don't really know why we're arguing about when he became guilty, he clearly had the video for long enough to send it and that alone is bad enough. Obviously they'll wait until all of the details come out, but if it's true (and it seems like it is), he needs to be gone. He'll probably get a second chance somewhere, but it shouldn't be here.

I hate how they do these headlines....they are SO misleading. Almost makes it seem like he is preying on children.  Cant just have a knee jerk reaction to the situation. 10 years ago he had broken no laws.  He absolutely should not have sent the video after he received it, but like most 17 or 18 year olds I am sure he didnt know that it would be a felony.  It happened before he got to campus too? March 18? The staff seems to have found out about it in the fall.  Can t suspend/remove a guy if he isnt guilty of anything.  It has to be a wait and see.  Frost seems to be committed to his players, but at some point that may change is the story develops.

Let’s let the kid have his day in court. Yes this looks extremely bad and it all could be true, but he is innocent until proven guilty. What else can be said?  :dunno

Agreed, which is why I'm generally alright with him playing last year while it was merely an accusation.

Now? Action needs to be taken until the court case is settled.

We have very little in the way if facts at this point, so let's back off the gas a bit. Based on the title of the article that outlet I'd clearly looking to sensationalize this story.  That being said, Washington wasn't one of the alleged assailants, nor was he responsible for production of the video.  In terms of what the University did or didn't know, the fact that former NE Attorney General Jon Bruning is representing Mo would lend itself to them at least knowing something (his version at least). Judging from the fact he was allowed to play, I would suspect an agreement was reached whereby if his version turns out to be true, he's good. He may face internal discipline obviously but will remain in the program.  If it comes out that his story doesn't check out, then I could see him being dismissed.

Worse "may"  be this:    "According to a lead investigator on the case, the University was made aware of the allegations against Washington sometime last fall, but he was allowed to play through the entire season."

However I am the first to say we don't know what they knew so it will take time to play it out.

It sounds like half the school could be charged since the video was forwarded by so many.  I’m sure because it was so widely distributed, it never occurred to Washington that he was breaking the law when he lashed out at someone who apparently broke his heart.  Taking all of the factors and circumstances together, I wouldn’t characterize Mo as a horrible person, yet. Maybe he needs counseling to develop a healthier view toward women.  I’m reserving judgement whether he should be kicked off the team. If convicted he will be.
