2020 Quarterback Competition

The 2019 season started with Martinez as the clear choice to lead the Huskers team.  He was a Heisman darkhorse as well, yet he struggled for much of the season across the board, but especially with decision making.  We saw some glimpses of what McCaffrey brings to the table, and I think its safe to say we will have a real QB race heading into the 2020 season.  What do you all think?

Depends on how much of a stubborn mule Frost is.

I’m afraid your right.  If Frost goes back with Martinez and he improves to actually be an average QB, that’s still not good enough in this type of offense where the QB is featured.  Martinez isn’t tough enough mentally to start IMo

There are three guys coming back that deserve a shot at QB1, with another guy coming in that could grab it. There’s zero reason to let Martinez hold the reins without a fight.

McCaffrey needs to get bigger to be depended as the starting QB. He battled injuries playing in a limited role. I am excited about his athleticism and intelligence.

Logan Smothers will be the wildcard. He might be the best combination of runner and passer that Frost has recruited through 3 years.

I’m concerned Frost is a head case when it comes to backup QBs because of his experience here.
I believe it already came up in a presser earlier this year. It obviously impacted him and he's protecting Martinez. Detrimental to the team this season.  Hopefully someone he respects calls him on it (TO, Ron Brown) because it potentially will rear its ugly head next year.

Gonna be a long offseason in regards to this one. Have to think Luke improves his play and gains some weight too. At the very least I think he becomes 1B. Although that’s not good enough.
