Dantonio stepping down at Michigan State

Will be interested to see if this actually goes anywhere. I don't see enough detail in this article to form an intelligent opinion. I'd like to know more about why this guy was arrested, and what are the connections between the case that got him arrested, and the dismissed player that he was allegedly thrown under the bus for? 

 
Yeah it’s a little vague in some areas. 

The big item for me is that the guy says 3 coaches told HCMD not to bring him in, as did the high school coaches. 

Yet MD brought him in anyway and he raped a girl. If that’s even partially true that’s egregious. 

Espcially after all the gymnastic coverups there. Can’t have people in charge bringing harm to students

Agreed, but if that many people warned Dantonio about this guy, that should be easily corroborated. If not, well...

The fact that he filed a lawsuit and it has come out publicly tells me that it was already investigated internally, and MSU is definitely not going to F around with this sort of stuff at this point if they learned anything from the Nasser deal. So if they already looked at it internally, and now we are here, MSU probably believes they are on pretty solid footing. 

This is the part that I wrinkle my nose at:

Blackwell was arrested in February 2017 on suspicion of interfering with or obstructing a police investigation of the sexual assault allegations involving then-freshmen football players Donnie Corley, Demetric Vance and Josh King. He was not charged with a crime. Michigan State hired the Jones Day law firm to review how the institution and athletic department leaders responded to the sexual assault allegations. Blackwell declined to speak with Jones Day's investigators, who concluded that Blackwell broke school policy by not properly reporting what he knew about the alleged sexual assault.

You don't get arrested for violating a school's duty to report policy. And not reporting something is not exactly the same thing as obstructing a police investigation. There is something else going on. 

 
Will be interesting.

One would think Michigan State would do everything possible to avoid any association with any sexual misconduct.  

Might not get as much benefit-of-the-doubt as otherwise....

 
The gist of the article:  

  • Michigan State football players molested college girls.
  • Michigan State kicked the football players off the team and made a scapegoat out of recruiting director Curtis Blackwell. 
  • Blackwell filed a wrongful termination lawsuit alleging that Dantonio insisted on signing the football players despite warnings from Blackwell and others.   

Prediction:

  • Michigan State boosters will give Curtis Blackwell a bushel basket full of money.
  • The scandal goes away.
  • Everyone lives happily ever after--except for the girls who got molested.  
 
Michigan State’s sex abuse scandals should warrant a punishment worse than Sandusky. State politicians/alums have been helping them slide by. Hopefully the payment comes due.

 
Anyone catch how the three players were convicted of "Seduction" by the Mighigan court? That's a law last updated in 1931 and originally from the 1846 that's about as asinine as you can get:

Punishment—Any man who shall seduce and debauch any unmarried woman shall be guilty of a felony, punishable by imprisonment in the state prison not more than 5 years or by fine of not more than 2,500 dollars; but no prosecution shall be commenced under this section after 1 year from the time of committing the offense.

So this law in Michigan says you can go to jail for up to five years and be fined up to 2500 if you sleep with an unmarried woman and you're prosecuted within a year. I'm honestly shocked that authorities don't stake out the Michigan/Michigan State dorms, listening for unwitting law breakers to prosecute--I mean, imagine the fiscal and labor windfall!  :o

Not if the others you warned are close to and/or are employed by Dantonio as well. You think forcing them to get on the stand and swear on a book is going to force them to tell the truth when they could lose six-figure jobs and be blackballed from the sport?

Yes, anyone can sue anyone else for anything, I get that. But for the case to proceed as it has, that implies an acceptable threshold of evidence on the part of Blackwell has been made available to the court already already--otherwise it would have been tossed out.

Holy s#!t!!  I spent my first three years at UNL trying my best to seduce and debauch women!   :hellloooo

 
This was a long time coming...He is an a$$ and the shine has come off of him at MSU.

With that said, he had like 5 great years but the rest sucked and was pretty well the norm for MSU which is one of those schools that you think has a much better history than they really do...
