I know it's fun to pretend you're above all this. I know it's fun to pretend you don't give a s#!t about any of the stuff we talk about, and that you're just here to have fun and that none of this is serious to you.

But, my guy, you post here dozens of times a day. You exchange PMs all the time. You have made buddies here, you have consistently come here for nearly a decade, nearly every day.

I don't know why you perpetuate this schtick that you don't care and that everyone else does, and they're dorks and you're the cool kid. But every single time you post, in every forum, throughout this place, every day, shows that this is all a lie.

I have no idea why you want to pretend this is no big deal to you. But if it was, you wouldn't be here.

You care as much about everything on HuskerBoard as every person you've ever mocked. Just come clean and admit it. It's OK. We know. We see it every day you obsess over all this stuff.

I met my dude on a message board and have been with him for 10 years now. I don't care if that's nerdy. And it is stupid to say none of this is "real life" just because we aren't talking face to face. It's possible and I would even say easier to have more meaningful conversations in writing than in person. Unless you're drunk at a bar and you're an emotional drunk. That stuff can feel super deep.

Oh my gosh...I am not the cool kid.

This is just to have fun and kill time.  I have made zero buddies here, I only know one person here.  

Now, if you will excuse me, I have to put on my leather jacket, my jeans and t-shirt and head out for a cruise on the old hog.

What I think I hear you saying is borderline ridiculous.

Statistics fall under the category of what we'd consider objective data. We analyze the data, and the data itself is objective.

The interpretation of what those statistics mean and/or policy extrapolation thereof is absolutely not objective - it's what would be considered subjective.

If you believe otherwise then we have a severely different view of reality, honestly. We can disagree about the interpretation of the data but we can't say that there's only one "right opinion" of a piece of data.

Speaking in general, I absolutely think this place should be fun, but I also don't think that means we should throw intelligence and civility out the window. There's a balance to be had. That's also one of the biggest reasons people ask for and/or provide links: links add to the conversation and can help us credit/discredit different arguments.

It's not so different than what we tell folks who break board rules - there are plenty of online message boards out there. This one has certain expectations, and if those prove to difficult to follow, we always invite people to explore those other options.

Sometimes, we have to force that exploration ourselves  :lol: .
