** 2021 Opponent Previews : Ohio State (Game 9) **

Ok....Point being Day has one loss, a bad FOUR quarters and is ready to evaluate.  Frost is on year 4 and we are still struggling.
Day has a lot larger sample size than that.  Their defense hasn't been good in a long time and there really are no excuses when they have their pick of players yearly.  It makes complete sense for him to evaluate now.  Comparing this to the situation here at Nebraska is a huge stretch.

He's been a head coach the same amount of time as Frost....How does he have a larger sample size?  Coombs has been the DC since 2020.....That's two years less than Held, Austin, Verduzco have been at Nebraska.....For a "not good defense", I'll tale theirs.....

So, I guess in year one, when Frost lost his first game, he should have fired everyone and cleaned house.
This is Coombs 2nd year as DC (9 games IIRC)......Our O staff have been at NU how long..........Coombs has 1 bad game in 9 games as DC....How many bad games has our O had......I have seen a lot of improvement with the D.....None with the O....

For the record, I would have let some of the O staff go after last year.....

Your statement clearly stated that he has one loss.... a bad FOUR quarters- implying that he is ready to make the evaluation based on that one game.  My point is he is using a much larger sample size over the course of more than this year to evaluate.  I state that this isn't comparable to Nebraska because Ohio State has their pick of just about any player nationally.  They can scoop up 4 and 5 star kids at will.  Day and his coaches also stepped into a program that was performing at an extremely high level.  His D coaches took something really good and made it bad while we are trying to take something that was horrible and make it really good.  Our defensive progress leads me to believe they are well on their way.  I agree with Day, it's time for him to evaluate his staff.

This really isn't hard to see if you can remove the emotion.  I get it, your pissed but drawing baseless conclusions about how a top 5 program operates vs Nebraska isn't realistic and hasn't been for over 10 years.
