What did we learn Illinois edition

Imo this was a complete team loss. Everyone had failures at some point from the head coach down to the second string kicker. One guy makes a play instead of mistake in many situations and we win this game. Same crap as years past looks like we are still chasing.

Games like this are exactly why we won't get linemen like Sanders and Cantwell to come here. Sadly, we're right on the edge, but unless we win games like this, we won't get the top end players we need to get over the hump.

You can’t have an offseason theme of “Chasing 3” and then not have a FG kicker on the roster that can make a 40 yarder.

We supposedly have this great NIL war chest and we don’t use it to bring in an experienced kicker. Completely mind boggling.
Man, I have seen better kickers pulled from the audience by Pat McAfee on Game Day to kick for schollie money than we have on our roster.  Rhule needs to reach out to him.  "make this kick and full ride to NU"....

We are overrated….we don’t believe we can win the close games so we do everything in our power to lose them.

I said this before about 100000 times

we can’t win close games without good special teams. We have no kicker

we can’t win close games when we spot teams 100 yards in penalties

Since Rhule has been unable to fix these issues, we will continue to lose close games. No wonder his record is 1-6 in close games. Frankly, this result was not a surprise.

  • Still can't win a close one.
  • O-line apparently thought the game was over at the end of regulation.
  • Our run defense is a lot worse than I thought it was.
  • Our defense apparently thinks it's legal to grab face masks.
You mean 45 yards in penalties is not good?  The last illegal hands to faace by Hartzog was probably the worst of the 3, he's being tackled and that guy grabs him by the facemask while he's going down to give them an extra 15 yards, and Hartzog was alone and didn't even have a reason to grab his facemask.

Games like this are exactly why we won't get linemen like Sanders and Cantwell to come here. Sadly, we're right on the edge, but unless we win games like this, we won't get the top end players we need to get over the hump.
Then you don’t understand recruiting at all. A top recruit will see the great environment, the great facilities, the positive momentum (yes they are moving forward despite the loss tonight, anyone who says otherwise is being dishonest), etc. Rhule and Co. have a LOT to sell, top recruits will see a chance to play early, get developed, and help the Huskers WIN.
