I was gonna say it must be hard so frequently believing in things that aren't true, but I think it actually gives you a lot of comfort.

For the record, just so we're all very clear, I much more valiantly believe in and defend free speech than the paragons of your political party or the person you voted for for president twice ever have. I also believe in sensible rules and an expectation of people following them, and seeing as how you don't break board rules I have no issues with your existence on the board. You're a smart guy and have (rarely) shown the capacity to engage in non-reactionary good faith, which is why it's all the more shameful that  your usual song and dance and beliefs and comments are so predictably small and empty. You're capable of so much more.

How many of those 14,000 posts amplify the message of people you claim not to support.

Engaging with those people spreads a message you may not agree with. Or maybe you do. It's hard to tell. You seem pretty willing.

Either way, the more people like you engage with that message, the more it spreads.

Useful idiots are most useful when they don't grasp that they're useful.

Jesus, Knapp. As if we all haven't read your posts. By this logic, every time you post a meme or clip of someone taking down a rightwing troll, you're merely spreading the message of the rightwing troll. And you've got a thousand of those.

I know you enjoy a rhetorical tussle, and absent the adversaries you've put on ignore I think you've started going after people who basically agree with you. 

I can't say it happens often, but every now and then on this and other internet forums, I'll get a private message thanking me for articulating something the unknown person wanted to say and/or standing up to a blowhard bully. They're usually a lurker, interested in but intimidated by politics. I can live with that.

Okay then, buddy. Go ahead and dig in your heels. Google the phrase "useful idiot" and toss up a clip that actually runs opposite to your argument. Although the Shed allows me to say "fuck you" I will decline to do so, even though I really mean it. 

Meanwhile, I'll engage with some of our less thin-skinned Shed visitors.

We touched on it a couple years ago. Could anyone come into P&R at this point and make a case for Donald Trump that we wouldn't accuse of trolling? We would challenge them,  they would rephrase and rehash talking points, we would provide links showing those claims have been discredited, they would find damning and sometimes legitimate criticism of Harris, and this would go on with no one being converted. Are they not arguing in good faith? Do you ignore or ban them? 

There are about 70 million of them out there, and our resident conservatives, including Archy, Nic, and Devo appear reluctant to defend or even vote for Trump. If we're talking non-gated internet political commentary, most of them get much, much, uglier than this one. 

In other words, it's 2024. What do you expect when you willingly seek out a Politics & Religion forum?

That clown literally wants to live in an echo chamber and never be challenged because either his/her ego can’t handle it, or mentally can’t handle it, and is probably afraid to see what the real world is like outside the basement.  Probably still wears three Covid masks at a time when walking upstairs to leave the house, and talks to mirror after getting ready each morning and says “ I am Knapp, I don’t care if I’m a whiny b!^@h, I don’t have to listen to anyone else, Russia Russia Russia, and Everyone is racist.  Now lets try and take that outside step today”.
