Dana Holgorsen Hired as Offensive Coordinator

Why would he call it an "evolving role" if it was just a consult?
Does one take everything a coach says literally?   Coaches say a lot of things every week, and things change every week.  I take it as him saying "might change later".

I think it is funny the level of reading into everything people do when it comes to this team.  I bet Rhule doesn't even know what he is going to decide to do after the season is over at this moment, but so many of the board members do!

1.  How did Foley escape this internal audit?  Team's are 20% of the game & have cost NU as many games as O & D.  I don't need an equation to tell me that translates into them being a bigger problem.

2.  Bringing in a 4-3 guy to consult on the 3-3-5 seems to me how we got here in the 1st place.  I've seen several head coaches force their DC's to diversify their scheme, it always waters it down.  As they say, the enemy of good is perfect.

3.  If Holgorsen can get NU to run Mesh as more than a pick route, it will probably benefit the O the last 3 games.  Beyond that, it strikes me as a d!(k Cheney situation.
Snow ran a 3-3 stack at Baylor.

It's funny to me how so many are convinced this is anything more than a consult.  I seriously doubt Rhule is bringing in Satt's replacement to work WITH him for 3 games.

You think Holgorsen quit his consultant job at TCU mid-season just to take another consultant job?

Here is his job description at TCU according to Football Scoop:

Dana had been working on staff at TCU under Sonny Dykes, where he was a consultant studying offenses for the Horned Frog defensive staff.

Could be he wanted to actually work on offense/do more with offense, we paid him more money or he was bored there.  I don't think Rhule is bringing in a replacement for his longtime friend, and making them work together for three games.  I don't buy that no as that is out of (perceived at least) character.   What would be in character is for this to be exactly what he said it was, a consult.

+1.

I do think Rhule's brain is at least a little bit scrambled over what to do with Raiola. There's no way he can run him in zone read plays, Dom will be pulling out to transfer in a heartbeat.

Totally agree on 'run the damn ball' guy being unhappy with the hire. We'll see what happens.
Run the damn ball guy here.  I'm like hmmmm..... Gotta run the ball and run it well in the B1G.  We haven't for a long time.  It's an interesting consultant for sure.  He is a wild personality which I like. In reading he does some RPO and PA passing game.  I like the RPO, but that will take a mobile QB. PA and run game that is successful.  This season we are the 11th worst running team in the country in average yards per game.  It appears that Dana has evolved to use TE's more and also as a H-Back.  I thought Fidone would be great as a H-back with his size, but damn he runs ugly.  So I do not think he'd be the guy doing it.  Uses gap schemes and some counter.  I love the idea of counters. I think Satt runs a 1 gap scheme, so having someone that says we can run elsewhere along the line is nice.  It's just a "name", but the Air Raid brand does concern me from that point.  But Satt simply isn'y getting it done.  Let Dana use the next 3 games as a job interview.

It sounds like Dana will have a headset for the next game. I thought only official assistants/coordinator and Rhule could communicate but apparently the number is 19 headsets allowed.
