OT Isaiah World -> Oregon

I don't understand why a team would want to try and get better either.
I do understand that with every team just some teams have too much talent.  Nebraska struggles consistently to bring in guys each year for the o-line and d-line.  All Im saying it would be nice to land him over Oregon and Texas A&M but I don't think we do even though Oregon and Texas A&M has way better players already on their teams.

Me either.  I just don't understand why if those schools are great in recruiting why do they need to go pick up guys in the portal.  It's not like they don't have skilled players at each position.  For all the kids that top notch schools get from the portal, kids that are highly ranked on those teams and aren't playing are going to transfer out eventually.
You realize of course that the transfer portal affects every team. And not all high school recruits turn into starting caliber players, right?

Just saw we lost World (last name, from Nevada) to Oregon. Yet again we swing and miss at an important addition/need to our team. I like Ruhle but I now find myself wondering if he can get it done long-term. I see other teams no "bigger" than us (Missouri, etc.) signing all kinds of 4 star guys from the portal but we've got just three, one a "holder". Too, seems so far Riola isn't able to sway many players to come to Neb to play with him. Worrysome. . . .

First, He a long snapper not a holder, and if he’s good at his job he’s worth whatever we promised him.

Secondly, yes it’s disappointing to

miss on World and Rivers, but we have other irons in the fire. I don’t find it worrisome to lose out on a guy to Oregon. They have more money than probably any other school. I find it more worrying to lose out to Georgia Tech, but it makes me think that maybe there’s some truth to the idea that our staff cooled on him. (Maybe because we already have Barney that can do what he does, or because we’re in a better spot with Dane Key than we thought a few days ago).

Third, 84% of players who have entered the portal don’t currently have a place to play and more will jump in as the playoffs finish. Yes we need to hit on a few of the best available guys to improve our talent level, but every former Husker that has jumped in so far is replaceable by several guys at a similar level who will be scrambling to find an offer in a couple of weeks. Not to mention several of the guys we had leave may find that there’s no place for them to go and may come back if the staff will take them.

Don’t panic yet. Let the new coaches work. Especially on defense.

Maybe we could let the entire process play out, get through transfer portal signing day, see who comes,  and then evaluate the whole picture.
Pretty much. Our high school recruiting is always slow out the gate but we finish around 16-24 every year. Has anyone considered maybe we don’t want to fill up as fast as possible so we don’t miss out on new kids entering the next month. I would bet a lot of great talent enters throughout the playoffs as teams get eliminated

Im not saying that.  Im saying Nebraska will add players just at what caliber?  Are we spending at the rate of Ole Miss or LSU probably not.
If we got every player you wanted, we'd be back at 150 players.  This year is going to be tricky with the roster charges.  Other than Def., I think we are going awful picky. Plus we lost him to the #1 team in the country!   :bang
