Dylan Raiola

And yet a sizable amount of posters on here are disappointed with DR’s season 🙄
I think this just goes to show how difficult it is to come into a college program and really excel.  He did have a very good year in comparison to other "freshmen".  Overall, he had an average-good year as a QB (not a freshman QB).   If he puts up the same numbers this year, he will be considered an average QB.  I believe that the people who seem to be disappointed are the one's who thought he would step right in and be an All-Conference player and lead us to 8-9+ wins.  It is difficult when you understand that there are a lot of NFL caliber defensive players and coaches standing across from you.

I'm not disappointed. He had a rough 5 game stretch that I would probably say was just the yips and/or a crisis of confidence that was infecting the entire offense, but his first 4 and last 3 games showed us who he really is as a player and what we have to look forward to.

Now, does that guarantee that he'll continue to step up and get better? I hope so, but no. Sophomore slumps are a thing, and we don't have to look any further than recent memory with true freshman all-american Adrian Martinez, and Taylor before him, to remember that we can hope but never know how things will shake out.

Kind of like @HANC said, if those were ranks among all QBs, it would be fantastic.  For those to be the rank just among freshman, those are pretty good but maybe not great.  Having a yards number be ranked noticeably lower than completions pretty much shows he was good at the short throws but not as good on deep throws.

Don’t disagree. I would anticipate he takes a pretty sizable step forward as most do from freshman to sophomore. If he’s exactly the same then yes the narrative will be more negative, deservedly so. More so calling out fans that expected heisman level play and a 10-2 season when special teams was an abomination and we had a brain dead coordinator for 75% of the season

Lots of strawmen in this post.

Not that every QB doesn't have them.  But how many of DR's interceptions this year bounced in and out of the WR's hands into a defenders.  or were weird 50/50 balls we didn't win on?  At least 4-5?

There was some of that.  And there are some that go the other way.

Pro Football Focus assigned him 12 "turnover worthy plays".  I believe that is trying to account for those bounces.  So plays where a good pass bounce off a receivers hands and get intercepted are not counted but the reverse - hitting a defender in the hands but he drops it - are counted.  I'm not sure if that includes fumbles or not but he had 12 turnover worthy plays and 11 interceptions so they basically equaled out - although he was perhaps a little lucky he didn't have more turnovers.

Do those "turnover worthy plays' account for near fumbles, or just potential interceptions?  And I agree there were some head scratching decisions, but his WR's didn't help him out very much this year.

I'm pretty skeptical that there was more than a couple jesting posts claiming he should/should have played been in the Heisman conversation.  If I have been missing them, you can sure point them out.
No s#!t Sherlock. It’s called hyperbole and this is a message board. There are plenty of posts expressing disappointment at how his season played out that I am alluding to.

Kangaroo court is now in session and admin mavric back with a pep in his step post new year everybody!

So, according to your last two posts, hyperbole and facts are the same thing.
