Raiola and his weight

It's the off season and not much going on.  Read a quick article with Rhule talking about Raiola being improved in year 2. Second time I have read in the off season talking about his weight.  One mentioned 245 and playing at 225 or vice versa.  I can't remember, but Rhule mentions this:  Was he playing to heavy last season?  Did that impact his ability to run or scramble better.  The use of the word "nimble" makes me think of a guy "fleet of feet".  Thoughts?  Again, off season and nothing much else going on.  I do LOVE the idea about "making sure he's a guy who can run".  Run the damn ball guy likes this.  BUT run him wisely.

"You get to year two and you're really trying to master all the parts of the offense. I think for us it's him doing that while at the same time becoming dominant in the little things. His weight, making sure that he's a guy that can extend plays, making sure that he's a guy that can extend plays. Making sure that he's a guy who's nimble, making sure that he's a guy who can run."

To me it’s kind of a nothing burger…good offseason fodder, sure, but it’s not earth shattering.

if us novice simpletons can see Raiola being a statue in the pocket so can his coaches, himself and his opponents for that matter…you wanna be the man???  Prepare like it and make yourself the best version of yourself.

I don’t see 10 zone reads per game in his future 😆 he’s a pocket guy but needs work on play extension…a part of that is working on your agility and fitness.

pretty standard stuff I think.  Hopefully a more focused regiment this offseason gets that baby fat off and lets him be his best version of qb1.

I feel like he’s fighting a bit of genetics. With his dedication to the university and the program along with three or four football specific nutrition specialists, I have a hard time believing he played “heavy.”  Maybe it was heavy for an athlete. Seems like a recipe for food issues.

Not the same but reminded me of Jamarcus Russell. Jamarcus Russell showed up for Raiders summer camp in 2010 at 290. 😱
Ohmygosh, sorry, I'm envisioning how much crap would hit the fan if DR showed up for fall camp at 290.  :B)

Bonus points if the coaches sent him nothing but blank Hudl links to "study" film.

Ohhh, Jamarcus...

Honestly, I expected more mobility. Now, this could be 1 of 2 things, either he is trying to long to make the throw or he is trying to long to gain a yard. Either one requires exercise.

It is different for everyone. And every body.

the dude and his genetics leans towards a bulky solid frame that to some might look pudgy or even “too big.”

With our nutrition dept and training table they know what they are doing, along side the weight room staff.

honestly, he’s probly still growing. Wouldn’t be surprised when he hits 20yrs old, he’s not 6’3.5”

what we should expect if he and the coaches are serious about his development is that he’s “in shape” for his size.  His conditioning and ability to move within the offense and maximize gains through the air and on the ground; along with avoiding injuries when he does get hit.
