Evaluation
Omigie looks great on the hoof as a projected outside receiver prospect and has good physical tools to polish up at the position. Has great height and a well-defined body that should continue to fill out well to the 210-pound range in college. Large target with a good catch-radius. Displays good hands and concentration. Tracks the downfield throw well adjusting his hips and controlling his body. Creates great mismatches on the jump ball over smaller corners. Not real sharp as a route runner but is difficult for smaller corners to press and gain leverage on. Does a good job finding the soft spots in zone defenses and coming back to the football. Shows good sideline awareness. After the catch he is not real fluid but is a load to take down once he builds momentum. Absorbs the big hit and often bounces off smaller defensive backs on contact. However, his top-end speed and extra gear in the second level are just adequate. We don't see him winning many foot-races at the next level or eluding defenders in space. Ability to create separation out of his breaks is a concern; often gears down at the top of his stem on intermediate routes. The chunk of his college production will most likely come from big downfield grabs. Will need to continue packing on bulk and improve upper-body strength to excel in that possession type role. That said, Omigie does show great downfield blocking skills and should adjust smoothly to the increased physicality of the next level. Good receiver prospect that would be higher rated if he had a bit more speed.
