Center:

1) Snapper - This guy gets his hands on the ball on every play. His job is simple: to get the football from the grass (or turf) into the hands of the QB without causing a fumble. On shotgun plays, the center has to deliver the ball on target and at a waist-high level as to give the QB time to find his receivers. As a HuskerBoard center, the poster should either start many, many topics because he "touches the ball first." When posting from a "shotgun" format (well after a topic is started), he should give the starter of a topic a nice straightforward answer/comment as to further the point stated.

2) Blocking ability - On any type of screen play, the center needs to get off of the line and help create a "mini-wedge" for the receiver. At the same time, he has to make sure he doesn't go past the line of scrimmage before the screen goes into effect! I would say the ideal HuskerBoard center likes to help out the arguments of posters and keeps himself restrained - meaning he doesn't go way off base with his comments.

3) Intelligence - In many football games you may see the center pointing out defensive alignments to the QB and his linemates before he gets into snapping position. The center has to anticipate what the defense is doing and relay it to his team. The football knowledge of this poster should be quite vast, and his ability to point out the strengths/weaknesses of other's posts should be quickly ascertained.

4) Underrated - This poster does a lot in helping HuskerBoard but doesn't always get recognized for their help.

Please nominate or second the person you feel best exemplifies these traits at HuskerBoard.

Nominate Cmb23
2nd CMB23 :thumbs
Thanks and I hope my previous Running Back plea isn't the reason for nomination, but my willingness to benefit the board and Husker fans. That and my ability to find a way and time to try and crack a joke at any moment.

Side note...I will be the smallest center in any starting lineup in history...this may even include Junior High rosters.

No offense, but it seems to me that members are getting recycled over and over again for not getting previous nominations. IMO not exactly the spirit of this contest judging by the instructions.

You're right to a degree. I think what happens is that there are several guys that a lot of people think should be in "a position," whatever that position is. I think that's as much a phenomenon of familiarity and respect as it is anything else.

However, we've had seven positions run all the way through nominations so far, with three more just getting underway. At this point we've had 63 names submitted for those ten positions. Of those 63, 24 were people who have been nominated one time only. Eleven guys have been nominated for two positions, five have been nominated for three, and we have one guy who's been nominated for four different positions, but elected to none. He's kind of the Buffalo Bills of this process so far. :)

The best way to combat having the same guys nominated over and over is to have as many people as possible involved in the nominations process. So if there's anyone you can think of who hasn't been nominated for a position for which they're worthy, please put their name forward!

Nominate Junior4949. He comes in and makes his point. I'll also second streetnovelist
