Douschebag Hall of Fame

Bo was on vacation and got a call from a Freshman saying he wanted to transfer. Bo has had only one transfer in over a decade at Wisconsin and wanted to know what was going on and said he wouldn't bless off on a transfer until he got back...the kid said he wouldn't wait and didn't want to talk to anyone from the athletic department so Bo and Barry drew up some restrictions on where they'd let him transfer....no Big Ten Schools, no Florida or Marquette. The player, a redshirt freshman by the name of Jarrod Uthoff listed 16 total teams he was interested in four of which Bo had placed restrictions on.

Anyhow Bo is now back from vacation had a chance to talk to Uthoff and has removed restrictions from all non-Conference teams.
Ryan was unnecessarily vindictive about it. He ended up with a list of over 25 schools that he wouldn't let the kid transfer to. As if Wiscy could make a list of 25 or more schools that Ryan or Bielema or any other coach "couldn't move to" and have it stick. That would never fly - but it's OK to pull a stunt like that on some college kid?

This isn't just about Bo Ryan, although he was pretty douchey about this whole thing. It's a stupid thing for the NCAA to allow this crap to go on. They already have the one-year rule where a kid has to sit out. Letting schools write up ban lists for athlete transfers is stupid.
There was nothing vindictive about it, Bo wanted a chance to sit down with the kid and at least hear what was so wrong with his program that it warranted such a snub and, after discussing the subject with a number of other coaches from around college basketball and your beloved Barry Alvarez, he decided to put the brakes on a transfer until he could get back. It was temporary and after talking to the kid he let him go...

...and Marquette and Florida are not significant to BB but Bo has to play Marquette every year and Florida next year...quite reasonable really.

Did you listen to his interview with Mike and Mike? He sounded like an utter douche bag.

Stop right there. No.

And Ryan didn't just decide out of the kindness of his heart to allow the kid to go with fewer restrictions. He was taking a hellacious beating in the press - justifiably - and he toned it down to save face.

It's ok, I can't expect for you guys to understand how a successful basketball coach does business if you've never seen it before...

Not butt hurt. I just wanted to have a rational discussion about it...if we're going to go straight to silly pictures than that discussion is over and done with.

To say that Bo was overly vindictive about it or only changed course due to the press couldn't be farther from the truth. He wasn't in Madison and he placed the restrictions on a transfer so he could get back to Madison in time to talk to the kid. They were temporary from the beginning. There are three reasons why one would believe otherwise..

1. You know Bo personally or have kept up with every intimate detail of his career and think he's a douche capable of such baggery...I doubt that's the case with Knapp.

2. You were a party to the phone conversation between Barry and Bo and know something we don't...also probably not the case with Knapp.

3. You have something against Wisconsin, want to stir the pot and look down upon its programs....ding ding ding...we have a winner.
