Literally every place has a different method. But the basics are as follows: find a set you like, and they'll put a marker on the face to see where you're hitting them. If needed, they'll adjust the length (usually on a graph related to where on the face you're hitting the ball) to where you're catching it square. Then, they'll put a marker on the bottom of the club and you'll hit on a "lie board" to see if you're sweeping the club across the ground...

This is the not very good way to do it^^^^. To really get things fitted go to a golf pro who has a launch monitor and fitting sets. He can change swingweight, adjust length, change grip for weight to head adjustment, etc. I got fitted at the West Nine at Firethorne in Lincoln NE and HIGHLY recommend it. They have there own methodology of fitting and I really think it works. Read more here: http://www.west9golf.com/club-fitting-a-repair/pxiii-performance-club-fitting

That didn't take long. But like I said, everywhere is different. It's what makes golf fun.
