  •  Ajay Allen had surgery and will be lost for the season. He went home to Louisiana with his mom. I'm thinking he will never be back if he can finish the semester online.

I'm pretty sure MJ said his mom had come to Lincoln.

When I heard the interview on the radio I heard Mickey say "Ajay's mom came and he's back home" which to me said he was back in his home town with mom. It sounds like he is back in his apartment in Lincoln.

I thought he was from Missippi,,  but they come to Linkedin

.Between Bear Bryant and Nick Saban Alabama hired and fired 8 coaches. Their tenure was 3,2,6,3,2,0,3 and 1 year. It was pretty much a revolving door till Nicky came along.

Yep.  I hate coaching changes with a passion.  But, Frost was given all the time he needed to turn this around and it just kept getting worse.  We will eventually find the right coach to bring winning back.

Agree.  Revolving doors are not exactly fun.  I hate that it didn't work out the remainder of the year for Former HCSF.  I am thrilled for Mickey.

Remember Michael Jacobson the basketball player who played for Tim Miles? Never played a down of football at Nebraska or Iowa St. Now plays TE for the Indianapolis Colts and caught a touchdown last night.

I remember Keith Neubert who played 4 years of basketball at NU in the late 80s, before having a bit of a career in the NFL.  I couldn't remember if he played any football at NU, but it turns out he played 1 year with the football team.

Love these stories. The Johnny Stanton journey is a good one.

If Nebraska gets out of our slump mostly due to the portal and starts winning games again at a crazy pace for a couple years, how long do you think it will take the Big Ten to put a limit on the number of portal players a team can grab in one year?

Not sure.  But I also think things will change fairly soon (or settle down) with NIL and the transfer portal.  A monster was created out of a good idea originally.  Too many hands F'd it up.  The original idea was good and helpful (with NIL and transferring). Without leadership and rules in place for all to follow, this is what you get.

I guess what I'm comparing it to is the decision when the Big 12 was formed that restricted the number of Prop 48 players a school could enroll per year. The vote was 11-1against the policy that Nebraska used to it's advantage. It was one way to bring the Husker program back to earth after many years of success.

RIP Gilbert Gottfried. Dead at age 67.

He was hilarious! I guess he died of a heart complication that he had kept secret. Talented comedian.

Teddy Allen had 37 points for New Mex St in their win over U Conn.

His uncle is a friend of mine, here in Tucson. Told his uncle he couldn't get along with the coach, at Neb.

Was told he also was a little hard to control. Little bit of a wild streak, in him. You could see a little of that in Thursday's game.

He did play a heck of a game. To bad he couldn't have stuck around, our program.

    GBR!!!

He was certainly talented but he needs 4 players around him who rarely get to shoot the ball and are satisfied playing defense and rebounding. Most players these days aren't willing to do that plus a team that can shut Teddy down can pretty much win the game.

I find it interesting that Malaki Branham was named freshman of the year in the Big Ten. He had been named freshman of the week three times this year. The award didn't go to Bryce McGowens who was freshman of the year 8 times and had better numbers. Must be payback for beating OSU in Columbus.

I was surprised as well. I thought McGowens had a better year, but Branham has a higher ceiling. I think you should give out the award to the one with that had the better season. Unfortunately, these awards rarely go to the person that actually deserves them.

Nebraska Womens Associate Basketball Coach Chuck Love has been suspended with pay. Also Ashley Scroggins, one of the leading scorers and best three point shooter on the team, has been suspended and her name no longer appears on the official roster. The university is saying there will be no other comment so details may be hard to get. This will be a big blow to the womens basketball team's hopes for success in future games.

I don't want to draw conclusions, but it's not difficult in this scenario. I sincerely hope this doesn't derail the really good season the Women's team is having.

While watching the Texas/Kansas game I kept seeing a player for Texas with a last name of Allen who greatly resembled Teddy Allen. Turns out he is Teddy's younger brother Timmy.

Yeah I just learned this a few weeks ago myself.  Looks exactly like Teddy also.

Yes it was sad to hear.  I liked meatloaf, musically and acting.  Great guy RIP

It’s great to see O lineman Hunter Anthony from Oklahoma St chose to transfer to the Huskers. He played yesterday in their bowl game win over Notre Dame

I DVR'd that game but haven't had a chance to watch.  Will give me something extra to watch for.

We are last in football Big Ten recruiting. Even Rutgers and Indiana had their best classes in many years. From bottom to top it ranks like this:
    14. Nebraska

    13. Wisconsin

    12. Northwestern

    11. Illinois

    10. Minnesota

     9.  Iowa

     8.  Purdue

     7.  Maryland

     6.  Rutgers

     5.  Mich St

     4.  Indiana

     3.  Michigan

     2.  Penn St

     1.  Ohio St

Number one through seven are all East Division teams.

If the 14 or so players that signed today stick around and we get 4 or 5 out of the portal we should be ok.  If not we are constantly reshuffling with new players.

We had a small class because we AREN'T shuffling a lot of new players this year.

Yes, we should get a few more from the portal and possibly yet a couple more HS kids in this class yet.

    The Scarlet Pimpernel
    The Scarlet Pimpernel
The excuses being given for why it's a small class are just that: excuses. When you have a small class, you should be focused on quality. This class should've been comprised of primarily 4* with a couple high 3*. Do you ever see any top-tier programs taking a year "off" of recruiting for ANY reason? Heck no.

Matt Davidson for Wisconsin basketball is still up to his dirty tricks. I saw him hook a defenders arm and then fall to the ground pulling the defender down. It tricked the ref to call the foul on the defender.
