Kill a liter of vodka then take cold medicine. You'll sleep.

Listen to books on tape about science while wearing blue blocker sunglasses. Blue/white light is bad at night and the soothing reader's voice will put you in a trance.

Just do coke, it won't make you go to sleep but you'll have a much better time awake.

I've dealt with insomnia since I was 13. I'm 31 now, still haven't found a way to get a night of great sleep.

not to be nosy but is there any kind of pin pointable cause? overweight, stress, etc.?

For me it's stress and the inability to shut down my brain.

Look at your diet and eating patterns. I know when I have trouble falling asleep it usually can be traced to a cola or coffee drink.

Diet can be a factor for sure...not just the pops...but all the extra sugar and processed foods.

I don't drink pop, and I don't eat sweets except for once in a great while. I don't know what the hell causes it. I'm definitely no calorie watcher. I'm in pretty good shape, and feel healthy. I really think I have to attribute it to stress.

Nebula if you ever find something that really helps let me know. I take some OTC stuff but that only helps sometimes.

I battled insomnia for years and years. No matter how tired I was, I'd lay down and my mind would start racing. I have a prescription for Clonazepam, which is an anxiety med, which helps stop the racing brain syndrome and lets me go to sleep. I have a second prescription for Ambien, but I almost never take it. Ambien is lights-out. There's no debate or discussion - you're going to sleep. Clonazepam is much more gentle, and doesn't leave you with a hangover like Ambien can.

One thing that I've found - garlic ramps up my insomnia. If I have a heavy garlic meal for dinner, it's like drinking a strong cup of coffee. Garlic insomnia is rare, but look into it.
