In all seriousness, though, my dad had to buy one a couple of years ago. Picked one up at the Goodwill for cheap. Tested it with an old tape he didn't care about. Works fine.

I was in Best Buy about a month ago. The space in the store they use for CD's is significantly less than what they used a decade ago.
