The "fine" that the gov't charges if you don't get health care is, I think, $150 for the year. Only buy health insurance if its cheaper.

My wife told me it's $200 for the first year then $400 the next and $1200 and up the following. So far $137 a month is the cheapest I've found.

As the law stands right now, the fine can only be paid with a tax refund so just make sure you never get a tax refund in your life and you'll never have to worry bout the fine
