It could actually be a sound issue, as weird as that sounds. Go into you System Preferences and go to Sound. Then, under output, make sure it's set to Internal Speakers. Sometimes, the output will stay with your AppleTV even after you turn Airplay off and it'll force your entire computer to Airplay.

So if there is no choice to select internal speakers where do I go from there?

Is the sound currently working on your computer? Sometimes internal speakers will disappear as an option if your computer thinks there are headphones plugged in (dust in the port can cause this). What options are available to you under Output?

It will list either my appleTV when I'm home or when I'm at work we have a Bose Bluetooth speaker system that it will list. Doesn't show internal speakers anywhere

Your audio out plug could be stuck in digital out mode. You can usually tell if this is the case by looking inside the headphone port to see if there's a little red light on in there. Even if it's not, it could still be the issue. Try to plug/unplug a pair of headphone into your headphone jack. That could cause the switch to get flipped.
