I'm not a Trump fan, but I am interested in seeing if our society's oversensitivity and PC culture can swing back to a middle ground. People need to toughen up a little.
Well, I don't disagree that younger generations need to develop tougher skin, but some recovery time is to be expected when a fascist is elected President.
Zoogs, while I respect you, our culture once was driven by pride, being self sufficient, not having to depend on anyone, earning a fair wage for a fair days work and going home for supper with their wife and kids.
In today's world, it's what can we get for free, who can we screw to get what we want, help, help, help. Did I win. It's his fault, its her fault. Where my reward.
We need evolving views about mental health. Really. Stigmatization is a serious, serious problem. But over and over, I see the trope. "Ha, he needed therapy? Puss."
That has zero to do with self sufficiency. Hard-headedness is not healthy. It's a society -- we help each other.
Mental health is an important concern, not going to argue that at all. Lets cover the real found mental health issues, not invent them so we can slide someone within a group (for the sake of Inclusion), thus; they are less likely to feel alinated.
I'm not sure what that is getting at, exactly. What I'm saying is this the scorn and derision directed at people who seek out counseling, etc, needs to stop.
