I think Tom is referring to the fact Comey broke protocol multiple times with the Clinton investigation announcement(s). Also, his odd refusal to do so with Trump.

The only reason I didn't want Comey canned is because I have 0 trust in whoever Trump chooses to replace him. He goofed up big time.

I was under the thinking Trump couldn't outright fire a person of that office, that maybe a committee or something was required?

But why would you fire someone for heloing you?
