Midwestern clay is not a fun opponent.

Digging in clay sucks. Only thing worse is clay with 4"+ river rock scattered in also. That is basically my yard in the last two houses I've had.

I remember when I volunteered to move my dad's mailbox to the otherside of the driveway. Fun times...

I'm good at digging. Would have made a great ditchdigger. In fact, maybe I should change careers!

I honestly am not sure I can dig much farther down because it's getting so compact. I might have to go rent an auger to make it the additional two feet. 48 inches seems insane for a basketball hoop! lol

You'll want it that far down when the boys are able to dunk, though.

Dry ice and a little water in a sealed pop bottle will get it done.

Back Hoe and a little much easier backfilling.

Probably too late but I surface mounted mine on a concrete pad. Just had to make a custom mount tube with anchor plate. Been standing rigid for over 15 years. (there's one for the OOC)
