Yamaha and honda make really nice quiet ones.......but they're expensive. We use a yamaha 1000, i think, to run our tv and electronics when we tailgate at Husker games. Its money well spent if you use it enough. My brother uses it for a backup when power goes out at his house.

I have to ask. How does a corded generator work? What exactly would you plug it into?

^ not 100% sure, but would imagine you plug it into an outlet? Not an option for this particular problem though.
