I think Lincoln could only host the first weekend of the tourney at best due to lack of direct flights and hotel rooms. Even then, I don't think that would come close to comparing to a world championship fight unifying 4 belts.
I am not sure...honestly if you are not from Nebraska or if you don't really follow boxing you might not have a clue who Bud is. I mean...I met the guy and his friends after the jays/Nova game this year...I didn't know it was him until my buddy told me. I don't even know what weight class he is in. I didn't even know there were 4 belts.
Honestly I didn't know about the belts either, but just having a world championship event in Lincoln seems like a huge deal to me. I know boxing is a dying sport but he is one of the best pound for pound boxers in the world. I guess the fact that I have to state my case probably shows that I'm wrong on this but I won't admit it.
I don't think it's just the number of hotel rooms. There needs to be a certain number of full service hotels that have 24 hour room service. Also the lack of convention center attached to the arena is a limiting factor for later rounds.
If that's the biggest event they'll ever hold.....not good.
