I go in at least once a year for a screening. Never a bad idea. A friend just had a mole removed that tested positive for melanoma; thankfully it was early and prognosis is good.
It took me longer to come to that conclusion than it should have. It took having kids to realize being "irresponsible" or "tough" is not a good reason to "not worry about it". I've always been careless with the sun (I grew up in rural Nebraska), and thought sunscreen on the face was dumb. Now I have freckles/moles on my temples where my cap didn't cover. Not something I want to mess with anymore...
