He needs to go to the authorities. Death threats are terroristic attacks on himself and possibly his family. The authorities have avenues and resources to take care of this problem that McElwain doesn't have access to. I hate hearing things like this because a coach is having a tough season.
It is when he knows it is BS...Think if you are driving and the person behind you thinks you are going slow...so they speed up to pass you and when they do they flip you off and yell out "Speed up next time or I will run you off the road" and they take off.
What are you going to do? For real? You are going to roll your eyes at the idiot and watch them drive off and maybe hope that they get pulled over for speeding so you can drive by and laugh.
What are you not going to do? Follow them, take pictures of their plates, call 911, keep following them, keep 911 on the phone with updates of his/her position and wait for the police to find you and the jerk that yelled at you. Then explain to the police what happened, insist that the person be arrested and tell the officer that you want to press chargers. Then go to court and try to prove your case against the person.
If that person behind me said next time I'll kill you or your family, I would do every single thing you outlined in your lengthy last paragraph. Especially if I had kids in the car.
Seriously, it's disgusting that people threaten someone over a sport, but they're not serious threats. It's just people being dumb. And I fully understand not goinf to thw cops right now. If it gets worse or more explicit, then things should change.
Exactly...they are morons but probably not killers. I feel like most killers (especially ones that are super into killing) probably wouldn't tell you what they are going to do.
