Do you really think that's why they're celebrating? People party just to have a party. It's not like these are a bunch of Mexican revolutionary zealots celebrating here - it's just kids looking to have a party, and any old excuse will do.
I didn't think Roark was speaking about the folks in S Omaha. I was under the impression he was talking about Johnny Whitebread and his band of revelers.
Exactly. I was pumped about going out to celebrate the end of the semester, but then realized that it was May 5th, and that I'd have to deal with a million tools that have been binge drinking since noon for no reason what-so-ever... None (or at least very few) of the kids I'm talking about are of Mexican decent.
Not to have this discussion again, but you can always reduce Christmas to underground Christians' picking a holiday date to counterbalance the pagans' winter solstice celebration...
whatever dude. you might not like it but other people have the right to go out and celebrate whatever they want, just like you do. you choose end of semester and they choose cinco de mayo! its one in the same, you arent superior because you think its stupid it actually makes you out to the the "tool" because you are claiming everyone else is a "dbag". im just sayin.
I don't like it. And I'm not saying that you don't have a right to be a d-bag. Nobody's stopping you from putting on a sombrero and paying a ridiculous cover to fist pump in a crowded impromptu beer tent if that's what you're into.
