I think most major decisions are best made logically, but you have to weigh the emotional factor within that decision. Kids throw a wrench into that where I think you do about anything for them, if it makes logic sense or not.
You can’t overly rely on either because both are influenced by the other. My advice is to look at the Longview and then talk to the most unbiased friend or confidant you have. The heart and mind can work together but if they’re truly conflicting, you probably don’t want to do the smart thing and are trying to rationalize the easy or impulsive thing
I try to leave my heart out of it...but, that's impossible.
So, I will always gather as much information as possible to look at hard cold facts with the least amount of emotion in it. Then, once I have decided what direction the facts tell me to go, I try to ask myself if my heart agrees.
I like to think I am a heart person, but as I have gotten older and have a family now, I try to think as logically as I can...the sometimes conflict, but overall, logic will win out!
Used my head when selecting the current job over the other job offer I had. Made. The. Absolute. Worst. Wrong. Decision. EVER. Still paying for it, and i may be permanently broken because of it. So, i used my head, but next time I'll know better.
Edit: Or, maybe I'll still use my head, BUT - whatever my head decides, I'll do the complete opposite.
