The city of Hastings set new limits on days that fireworks can be sold and set times of observance. 5 days, down from 6 days and from 10 AM to 10 PM till the 4th when the time was extended to 12 midnight. Most nights they ended about 11:15 and last night it was still going strong when I went to bed at 12. I'm not aware of any citations issued.
I was a little bummed with the weather in Omaha last night. I'm not a huge fireworks guy but for the the 4th, I kinda want to see people go all out and I'll enjoy it. The wind got gusty as all get out last night plus big time rains and pretty much put an end to it. I suppose people will go bonkers tonight now haha.
ZRod- I didnt call the cops or anything, I just think most can assume that people have to work on the 5th... You would assume if you have darkness that you can launch them from 9:30pm-11pm. I live in a large neighborhood. It would be different if it was on a lake or something. #getoffmylawn
Ha, it's still light at 9:30 here though. There's still some twilight after 10pm. I guess fireworks don't really bother me though, and I would probably be shooting them off late if I had my own place anyways.
There had to be a ton of people get ticketed around here. There was more stuff going off than I'd ever seen or heard before and none of it is legal here. It was like frikken Desert Storm Baghdad invasion level, seriously. Guess I should've pulled out the 2" mortar shells I had leftover from last year but they weren't needed at all.
Zrod- They dont bother me till my dog freaks out and wakes my daughter up. Now, that being said, my daughter could sleep through a rave happening, so I mainly just have to deal with my dog barking loudly.
And since we are FB friends, I know where you live and according to the googles the sun went down at 9:12pm. And last light was 9:46pm.. Therefore someone would have from 9:45pm-11pm to light fireworks off...
Well, Mr. Know it all, I'll excuse the humble brag of knowing me on the Facebook, I look out my window and see light past 10pm. That means it's still too bright for Merica's full glory to be realized. Although it's probably just gas from the landfill or light pollution. Or aliens.
