Yes and no. He was smart enough to admit he lied. He still lied about knowing. The fact still remains he knew about what Smith did and allowed him to still coach. That isnt going away. Not being prepared doesnt hide the fact he lied. I think if he was a struggling coach he would be gone but Ohio State will just spin this, slap his wrist and let the PR team spin it.

Which time was he lying?

@Moiraine All of them. But, based off conversation with my OSU buddy who is in the know, it sounds like no one on the board of regents wants him gone and they're willing to do anything and everything they can to ensure he stays. I think Gene Smith takes the fall.

Of course they are willing to break every rule they can to keep him.  Problem is, keeping him even after this BS apology breaks compliance.  So, how badly do they want him is what it boils down to.

It will come down to parsing words and selecting convenient definitions to claim there was no lie.  Like when Clinton said, "I did not have sex with that woman."  Later his counsel said the definition of "sex" does not include the service that Monica provided.

Meyer is playing chess and the rest at OSU are playing Connect Four...there will be no text, email or documentation that he ever reported it...now it is his word vs Gene Smith...who most OSU fans hate.

It's only a matter of time until he has another bout of emergency acid reflux.

A very, very small part of me wants Ohio State to fully embrace Death Star status and keep Meyer.

Personally, I’d laugh if OSU keeps Meyer on board because this will lead to a slow death for OSU. Dude is cooked in the college game, he’s a fraud and now everyone publicly knows it and only buckeye fanboys and oblivious recruits will want to attend that school

Yeah, maybe...he will still get great recruiting classes and kick a$$ on the field...he might have a "down year" and then retire...but that is about it.

Gone or not gone, it won't matter after OSU's AD is gutted due to the multitude of scandals that have occurred there.

Regardless what the conception of AD is, this happened on Urbs watch and he knowingly lied about it.  Right or wrong, compliance says he is out.
