Don’t know about the “best” but I really really like my Google Pixel 2. I was a Samsung Galaxy (S5 or S6?) guy before and this Pixel blows those out of the water.

I agree with Numb.  I love my Pixel.  You don't have to deal with all the crap that samsung or the carrier puts on the phone.  If there is something you like then it can easily be added.  You also get updates right away.

Have to say the new Galaxys are quite a bit nicer now but I've never seen the Pixel so I can't compare the 2

Galaxy is awesome. Camera is crazy good and resolution is tough to beat.
