Right!? That was a BIG play. Lots of game to play after that, but it reminds me of the 3-N-out by the offense in the Northwestern game that gave the opponent the opportunity to close out the game.

It was definitely the turning point in the game.  Benning and Sharpe mentioned that yesterday in their Big Red Overreaction show.  NU has learned how to win and beat lower teams the past 2 games, but the next step is stepping on the throat/putting teams away.  If JD makes that catch, he may score on that play, and at the very least NU is in scoring position again.  Ohio State could have puckered even more if that play is made.

It was a big thing but I forgive him and expect that he’ll make the next one.

He makes the catch and he probably scores. That would have been the end for tOSU, you could see they were on the ropes at that point. We just need to come up with a few more plays went it mattered.

I don’t think it’s healthy to expect perfection. JD has been doing his job, more than his fair share. He’s entitled to a dropped pass just as 2AM is entitled to an ill advised backwards pass. Those may be critical mistakes at poor times but those are not the things making a difference between this team winning and losing. If we want to do away with these then we must also give up all the good things they do and that would leave us in a worse place. Hypothetically......

@JJ Husker - not faulting any of players for it.  Just a "oh what could have been".... so so close.  That's what stings.  JD makes that catch routinely.  Just not yesterday.

JD makes a ton of great plays and he can’t be perfect, so I’m not down on him at all. However, he has had a couple of killer drops for NU this year. He dropped a pass late against CU which would have been a first down and could have burned more clock, and then the drop yesterday. It just sucks that NU has been in a number of close games, where drops and other mistakes are magnified.

@ColoradoHusk that same game Morgan dropped an easy catch for a td as well.  I think the one JD dropped yeaterday would have ripped the wind from OSU's sails and it would have flipped the gane completely into our control.  It's a what if game we just cant put ourselves in for the future though.  Learn and move on.

Yeah, that one and the one Zig dropped were drive stoppers. I don't think either one goes directly for a TD but they sure would've let us keep going. We've had a ton of those types of plays all year but they are getting reduced pretty much week by week. The good news after the 0-6 start is we are in really good position to finish 5-1 with the only loss being a close one at tOSU. Signals very good things for the future. If we can just get special teams to the point they aren't hindering us and possibly even helping, we should be able to compete with anyone in the B1G.
